#BTOOOM! ep3: so I guess we're done with explanation, and starting on the game in earnest now. #anime 

I guess you can't really go by appearances in these shows, or
situations. Sakamoto apparently sees some use in this fat middle aged
guy. Which is good, because they're both pretty naive in their own
way. It's like Sakamoto has all sorts of "book smarts", but isn't
"street wise" in the slightest. And we've already seen someone who's
the exact opposite of him. The old guy (I'll remember his name
eventually) will probably not only keep him alive, but maybe keep his
humanity, too.

We also see a few interesting characters. The poor dumb chick who got
her lower half blown off and killed isn't one of them. The person who
killed her with the glasses and long hair is. He reminds me of Ishida
from Bleach, but cooler looking, and without all the lame Quincy gear.
And at the end of the episode we see some kid covered in blood by a
dead body. How much you wanna guess he's some crazy ass little
bastard?

And finally the most important new character of them all. That fat,
evil porker who started this whole tournament of death and bombs.
Someone Sakamoto knew who he was before the guards tased the unholy
sh*t out of him. He's definitely connected with the game somehow. If
he's not the end game, then I don't know who is.
