Pendulum (Atelier Van Lieshout, 2019) is a massive, mechanical clock powered by a swinging pendulum. The clock’s hands tick loudly, ominously counting down a perpetual cycle of destruction and creation typical of our constant search for utopia.

Atelier Van Lieshout is the studio founded by artist and visionary Joep van Lieshout. With his studio Atelier Van Lieshout he produces three-dimensional objects that straddle art, design and architecture; his work ranges from machines to furniture, from buildings to sculptures, from installations to designs for utopian and dystopian cities. In 2008, Joep founded Foundation AVL Mundo, which has the aim to support culture such as providing workspace for young talented aspiring artists.
