#BodaciousPirates ep1: how much I enjoy this show will probably be directly tied to how badass it wants to be. #anime 

Mostly bored with this episode through about 70-80% of it, but it does
have hope. The main character doesn't seem the least bit annoying
despite seeming to be one of those eternal optimists that I generally
hate. The production is quite nice, though through experience I've
seen quite a dip between first episode and what follows. And despite
my first thoughts, this doesn't seem to be a ecchi heavy, fanservice
fest. Now I just need to see what its specialty is. Does this show
thing it's got the action chops to run with that? Is it hoping to be
fun and whimsical? It caught enough of my attention to warrant a five
episode test.
