Check-in Station: Wanna Be the Strongest in the World ep1 (oh no! Not the Shame Hold! The humanity!)

I came into this with low expectations, so I wasn't disappointed by
this bland fanservicey show. I came. I saw crotch. I moved on.

The show itself wasn't bad - no wait! It was pretty bad. The
animation feels cheap and the character designsare really generic.
The color pallette is just bland and overall the show just lacked
punch. It doesn't help either that I just watched a KyoAni production
before this.

I will say that at the very least the boobs did some nice jiggling,
though the fanservice wasn't really impressive either. And that
brings me back to the cheap feel of the animation. The show seemed
really, really interested in showing the audience crotch while that
character was forced into a Boston Crab hold. I swear, it felt like
five minutes of the show were dedicated to that one specific view of a
struggling crotch. I get it! She's struggling! Her vagina is just
underneath that cloth, and I'm sure it's full supple! Now can we
please move on?

I guess it's my fault for getting into a show that I knew was going to
just be fluff and jiggly lady parts. It also doesn't help that I
really don't have any sympathy for the main character or her rival
friend. The pro wrestler hazing them, Rio, was just defending her
turf initially. Elena, the main character's rival and best friend,
shouldn't have been screwing around in the ring. Her ignorance and
flippant attitude started all this. Also, I don't care about anything
involfing idols. I just don't. I don't care for idol shows, music,
drama or just the general idea overall. I especially don't enjoy the
hyper produced atmosphere around them. Sure, I've tolerated them as
mostly sideshows in my mecha anime, but nothing more. So when Rio
starts kicking the main character's ass and insulting her profession,
I was Ok with it. It's dickish, but considering she's a pro wrestler,
it kinda fits her job description. This is especially true if she's
actually the heel she comes off as in this first episode.

Also, I've noticed a strange trend this year where it seems the theme
of women cutting their hair becomes super important to the plot. In
C3-bu, this show and Monogatari, the characters all lose a significant
amount of hair and it signifies a major turning point, or a complete
shift in personality. I'm starting to wonder if hidden super powers
are stuck inside a woman's hair, only to be released in emergencies.

Overall, I suppose this show is a pass for me, even though I was
looking forward to having a light and silly fanservice show to
brighten up my day. This show at a glance appears to be too boring
and bland (even with the tits) to commit to continued watching.

Oy Oy! The point of a half Boston Crab isn't to injure the vagina, move that camera! Check-in Station: Wanna Be the Strongest in the World ep1 (oh no! Not the Shame Hold! The humanity!) Wanna Be the Strongest in the World ep1 title pic #anime
