Antique Horn Mute 

Ok, I found out this is a Parduba Mute. One of the first manufactured horn mutes produced (1920's). Prior to this, players would generally hand mute their horns. These were made first for members of the New York Philharmonic horn section. They didn't catch on widely, but their design influenced future mutes.
