Going winter yurts camping this week. It got me remembering real winter camping. This is a snow lodge I built myself to sleep in at a Scout camp a few years ago. It was between -20 and -25 from what I recall. I got so hot in there I had to remove layers as I was sweating so much. It is not for the claustrophobic.
Step one - dig out the inside as a whole in the snow. Pick the right location.

Happy 23rd birthday to my youngest. She decided to be born in the middle of an ice storm. We had no idea that she would be a famous birth at the time. First baby delivered by a regulated midwife in Canada without a doctor. She has grown to be so much more in her own right. Smart. About to graduate University of Waterloo and member of the Deans Honour Roll. Varsity hockey player for 5 years after being signed from the Durham Junior Lightning. So proud of you. ❤
