The inside of the snow lodge. The floor is raised 6" above the ground. This helps keeps the cold wind out and the heat in.

#inside snow lodge after roof tarp installed. The inside of the snow lodge. The floor is raised 6" above the ground. This helps keeps the cold wind out and the heat in.
#wintercamping #snowlodge Step four. Shovel snow onto the roof tarp. Pack down. This insulates your lodge. I placed multiple layers underneath my expedition -35c sleeping bag. I usually use a second bag inside the winter bag. I like to be cozy. Underneath is a reflective foil blanket, a closed cell foam r4 pad with a thermal estate 2.5" closed cell foam self-inflating mat.
