Is it really such a shock when travelling to a college town that you're going to be drinking at a college bar or heading to a liquor store and buying a case and drinking in a lobby or hotel room? I guess I'm laid-back when it comes to making plans, but like, just go buy a bucket of PBR and have fun! At least college towns have later hours. Suburbs have chain everything and shut down early. I live in a city, but going back to my college town is fun. And the main point is that the couple wasn't obligated to coordinate a party for them after, which is what OP seems to think should have happened, if you read the post. I'm very much of the opinion that OP and her friends could have JFGI'd a solution to this on-the-fly.
