We would like to give a warm welcome to our new wood workshop manager Abdul Khadir! 🛠
.
As our Olive Groves outside of Moria camp continue to expand and we begin to house more residents in dignified conditions, our construction demands have also increased. We are working on multiple projects in different areas across our Olive Groves, from electricity installation to carpentry and repairs.
.
This expansion provided the perfect opportunity for us to bring more structure around our tool inventory. We needed someone to oversee the use of tools and machines per project. And most importantly, we needed someone responsible and passionate about construction to do the job.
.
Abdul Khadir was the perfect fit for and we are so happy to have him on board. He is a true enthusiast and is excited to assume this new responsibility.

Our incredible team on Lesvos have distributed #ramadan food packs to 786 families and 700 single men living in the Olive Groves outside of Moria camp!
.
The success of this special distribution is a huge testament to #teamwork and local #community support. Every pack distributed contained food and drinks sourced from a local Lesvos supplier and were boxed together by our team of coordinators, visiting volunteers and resident volunteers.
.
Taking a community-based approach, our team handed out the Ramadan food packages tent-by-tent, zone-by-zone, greeting and speaking with every resident along the way. Every package was delivered with a smile and received with the utmost gratitude.
.
We feel great joy that this distribution has helped to feed so many residents during their time of fasting, but also enabled residents to feel more respected and cared for. We hope to continue to bring a greater sense of dignity to the residents living in and around Moria camp.

.
With the relocation process complete, we now take the next steps towards improving the lives of an additional 2,000 men, women and children. Levelling the ground in Zone 7 of our Olive Grove campUs!
.
Levelling the ground and building terraces is one of the most important steps in the construction process of a new zone. It helps to create a stable foundation for hundreds of improved shelters for thousands of residents. It will also help to reduce the risk of flooding during rain season and make it easier for both residents and workers to travel throughout the zone.
.
A special shout-out to our local Greek contractors and resident volunteer team for their assistance in this demanding work. We are so grateful for your helping hands and for working with us to bring a sense of dignity, safety and community to the Olive Groves outside of Moria camp.
