A flock of seaguls
The movement of a flock of seagulls flying above a high school field inland in Oregon is shown. The flight behavior of bird flocks was modeled in a computer program called Boids, created by Craig Reynolds in the 1980s. A part of the algorithm I recall is a rule about avoiding getting too close to other birds, but that's just one factor affecting the flocking behavior, which to me looks like a bit of aerial ballet. Enjoy this snippet of avian artistry!
