Electronic Organs

The term "Electronic Organs" has a negative connotation for pipe organ purists, whereas, "Digital Organs" seem to imply better quality. I've even heard some people call them digital pipe organs, although there are no pipes installed.

Some Features That Make Johannus Organs Superior

Real Time Sampling

It is the talk of the town, but actually what is it? At bottom Real Time Sampling is nothing but a system that reproduces original recordings of famous pipe organs per key. Well, you will say, everyone offers exactly that. Just a moment, that is not the case. Usually a recording of a pipe organ is used merely as an example. This recording is known as a sample (hence everyone’s assertion that they build Sampling organs). This sample is not applied in the organ. It is made into a computer simulation. That is a piece of software - a complex digital formula - that is incorporated in the organ. You hear a ‘sound-alike’, not the real thing. It resembles it, but this algorithm is still a poor imitation. Thanks to Real Time Sampling a Johannus organ sounds exactly like a genuine pipe organ. Real Time Sampling is the best possible technology to reproduce the sound of the pipe organ. It doesn’t make use of simulation techniques, but rather direct digital recordings of famous pipe organs. You’re listening to the actual pipes themselves.

Multi Channel Audio System

The practically perfect reproduction of authentic pipe organ sound, as found in Johannus organs, would not make any sense with a poor audio system. Here Johannus have built up a tremendous reputation. With the introduction of X.I AUDIO the sound quality has been further improved.

Romantic, Symphonic and Baroque

The organ culture on the European continent can be divided into three main streams: Romantic, Symphonic and Baroque. For the true organ lover these styles are incompatible. Each style in the organ literature requires its own specification and timbre. Johannus Research has succeeded in building three organs into one. Simply pressing a button changes all the stops of your organ from a Baroque to a Symphonic or Romantic organ. This fantastic breakthrough in the organ world is a dream come true for every organist.

12 Different Organs

The magnificent variety of the organ literature requires organs diverging in sound, intonation and tonal quality. The new Johannus organs offer the organ lover three basic varieties: Baroque, Symphonic and Romantic, each of which has as many as four different intonations: Classical, Solo, Hymn and Trio. Twelve organs in all. Get ready for an overwhelming musical experience.

Masterful Cabinetry

Dutch Pipe organs of past centuries distinguished themselves for great craftsmanship. That is not only audible - in the sound of organs from that time - but also visible. Breathtaking architecture and the unrivalled mastery of the cabinet-makers are characteristic of the Golden Age. The magnificent paneled cabinets of the new Johannus organs recall that era. And again it is a matter of an inspiring sound combined with masterful cabinetry. Here Johannus is unique and lonely at the pinnacle!
