The State of Small Business Lending 

Small businesses might seem insignificant individually, but they certainly pack a big punch as a whole. In fact, they are the backbone of the American economy, employing around half of U.S. workers. A small business is defined as employing less than 500 people, although many have far fewer. While it might seem as if everyone is working for a large corporation, small businesses pay a whopping 44 percent of the collective American payroll.
