What are the 3 common problems that you can quick-fix yourself

Believe it or not, even a vacuum cleaner from the best vacuum brand is prone to the occasional issues. Fortunately, there are some issues with a vacuum cleaner that we can fix ourselves before getting professionals involved. You can really save time and money by knowing how to fix some regular problems at home. I am going to share with you 3 of the most common issues that you can easily fix with a minimum amount of effort at home.

1/ The vacuum cleaner works, but there’s not any suction power

This kind of issue is the most common and the easiest one to fix. For bagged vacuums, you check if the dust bag is full. For canister vacuums, you open the canister and empty it if it is already full. Very simple, right? But you may be amazed at how many of us overlook this basic task.

Furthermore, you should definitely not let the dust bag or the canister be overfilled. Not only because it will make your good vacuum cleaner lose suction but it also causes your machine to degrade quickly. When they are filled, all debris that the machine collects will go into the pipe. As a result, no air can circulate through the pipe and the loss of suction power is the result.

2/ The brush roll of the vacuum machine does not work properly

If this issue occurs, check the brush for any piece debris. This causes the brush to stop spinning. You can use a pair of scissors to remove all pieces of debris stuck in the brush such as pet hair, tangled hair, carpet fiber, etc.

Make sure that nothing is left behind because not only the brush, but the motor may also be affected later on.

3/ The vacuum machine is cutting off suddenly while working

This problem is also an easy one to solve. Some top rated vacuums have a built-in protective sensor, and it makes the machine stop working when it is overheated. What you should do is to unplug the machine first, then you check the machine manual and wait for 20 to 30 minutes for the motor to cool down. You can try to plug it back to see if the vacuum machine can resume working.

To sum up

A normal vacuum cleaner can last up 7 to 8 years if it is maintained properly. A good vacuum cleaner can last up to 12 to 15 years with proper care. Please remember to empty the dust bag (for bagged vacuums) and the canister (for canister vacuums) to prevent the loss of suction power. Besides this, you need to check the brush of the machine to remove all the pieces of debris to protect the motor in the long run. These maintenance tasks can take you a little bit of time but I am sure that it is much better than spending your cash to fix your vacuum machine.
