Just poured myself a Viewpointe 2006 Syrah to go with organic roast in the oven. Tasting notes below... 

Light earthy red. Aromas of berries, dark stone fruit and white pepper followed by a pleasant palate of white pepper, berries, cedar and vanilla. A Northern Rhone style Syrah with its proper share of Lake Erie North Shore distinctiveness.

Did you know that Syrah is the 7th most planted wine grape on earth? Has a long history in the Rhone region of France. Predominant in Northern Rhone (Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Cote Rotie). Lake Erie North Shore is an excellent region for Syrah. Viewpointe has just released this one and a reserve will be out soon. Cheers!
