Wat een schitterende topsporter. Mijn broeder @ricoverhoeven Niet alleen omdat hij op z’n 28e al bijna vijf jaar ongeslagen wereldkampioen is in het kickboksen, maar ook vanwege zijn maatschappelijke betrokkenheid. Vandaag rekende hij in de tekst hieronder af met kortzichtige ‘fans’ die hun racisme projecteerden op zijn winstpartijen tegen jongens met andere huidskleuren. Belangrijk dat topsporters en andere rolmodellen zich uitspreken tegen dat soort nare tendensen. Rico is een ware kampioen, ook buiten de ring. Lees maar.... “The Monday after.... Respect to me is a VERY important value Never ever forget that this is just sports If opponents disrespect me, I settle this inside the ring However over the past weeks I saw a lot of comments online from people that tried to make this fight into a beef between two ethnicities. That's not only stupid, but also narrow minded. I distance myself firmly from this. Focus on what other people have in common with eachother instead of how they differ from another.
