I’m back in Tomioka, Fukushima!
- meanwhile in a completely rebuild neighborhood after it flushed away by the tsunami in 2011 . (watch till the end!)

On friendship. - @elfivoermans and I have been friends since approx. 100 years. We don’t see each other that often, but when we do, we organise pyjama parties and everything is exactly the same as we were teenagers. When we were 16 yrs old she started her study to become a master in flowerdecoration and flowerart and I went to art school. Later (as in: just a year ago which means over 20 years passed 🙄😬) she also graduated artschool which resulted in seeing eachother more often because we both work in the same field now.
But as I mentioned: in essence not much changed. We both see beauty in small things. And friendship is for ever.
by the way. we went to the opening of @linegulsett solo at @torchgallery which is absolutely worth a visit!! .

- meanwhile in a completely rebuild neighborhood after it flushed away by the tsunami in 2011 . (watch till the end!) FINALLY! I got to work with the #clay that we found underneath a ricefield in #Okuma, very close to the #Fukushima Daiichi #powerplant! I also worked with clay from a #ceramic center in #Oburi, a place that was famous for it’s #ceramics, also close to the powerplant but about six kilometers further. This particular clay was originally imported from #Sendai, but the #artists in Oburi worked with it and it was stalled in a local ceramic center and clay ‘factory’. Although this particular place has the same distance from the powerplant as #Tomioka (the place where I stay and work, nine kilometers from the powerplant and totally #safe), the #radiation level around this ceramic center is extremely high and is called a #hotspot.
No, this doesn’t mean that this clay is #dangerous or #whatever. It was saved inside the building. So it’s all good.
Anyway. because the Okuma clay comes directly from the soil and has not been cleaned from durt and stones etc and also because it is basicly clay with another quality, I tried mixing both clays today.
Don’t expect #masterpieces (for now). At this stadium I am just #testing the material.
But #yayyy: #PROGRESS!
