Yes, weekend? Over here please! First week back in training hit hard. But man, how I love it 😬.
Off-season! 🌊 🏄

Can I sit still during my off time? No
Can I surf now? Sort of!
Did I have a good time? Yeeesss!! 🤙🏻
Thank you @tizirisurfmaroc!
My reaction after this jump says enough about how I felt about not clearing the 2,26m and/or reaching the final. Doha didn’t bring we what I wanted. It did show me what I need to work on in the coming months, and gave me the confidence to say I’m one of the best high jumpers in the world (19th best to be precise). Of all the things Doha wasn’t, it will be a stepping stone for next year.
t - 2 days. Tuesday at 16:50u local time it’s time to jump the Qualification at the @iaafdoha2019 World Championships. 2,31m or a top 12 finish is needed for the final. 📷: @ruudvanbragt
Last week in Leverkusen before it’s time to put on the orange again!
Best way to end my 28th year on this planet. Let’s make the 29th an even better one! 🥳
The run up for #Doha2019 has started!
The wait is over! I am officially selected for my second IAAF World Championships! Doha, here I come!
And now we wait... At the moment I'm within the top 32 that qualify for the World Champs in Doha, but the qualifying period doesn't close until Friday night. Fingers crossed🤞. 📷: @runoutofhell
Time to lace up again! Jumping @istaf_berlin tomorrow at 14:45u. Excited to see what’s possible tomorrow! 😄
High jumpers, take note. If you are ever looking for a very well organized, athlete centered competition, with a great atmosphere on a good track (in other words, if you are looking for a competition to jump high): come to Zoetermeer! Great job again @highjumpmeeting and especially @hansverheijde and @johanschonebaum! See you next year! 📷: @runoutofhell
2,28m!! It took me 6 years, 2 ankle surgeries, moving to Germany and a lot (like really a lot) of hard work to finally repeat the height I jumped in 2013. Incredibly special to jump this at the track where I trained for 6 years, surrounded by my family and friends. What a night!
Eyes on the prize.
I had a small training camp back home to work on some issues with my ankle that popped up after nationals. Combining it with catching up with my friends made it a good week. My ankle is doing better, so now it’s time to prepare for my last three competitions. @highjumpmeeting the 28th, @istaf_berlin the 1st of sept and the last one in Leverkusen at the 6th. Let’s go! 📷: @runoutofhell
Watching the high jump together with my dad. 😄

A fourth place with the team. Not what we came for, but it’s sports you know, stuff like this happens. I’m proud to be a part of this team 🦁🍊!
2,18m, a 4th place and 8 points (exactly following the prognosis) in Sandnes today. With some small ankle problems in the last days the build up to this competition wasn’t easy, but we managed it well and the result was very okay. Now time to prepare for the next series of competitions, to chase the standard for Doha!
The Dutch high jumpers are ready for the weekend! I’m jumping tomorrow at 16h! Our team is the favorite for the win this weekend, but it’s not going to be easy. Every point will count, so let’s see if I can bring some points home.
Almost time to put on the orange again! This weekend the European Team Championships are being held. We’re going to try to fight our way back into the Superleague in Norway 🇳🇴. Excited to represent @teamnlinsta once more @etch2019sandnes 💪🏻🦁. 📷: @tsvbayer04_official
After living in Germany for over three years, I feel quite German sometimes, but in the weekend of the German Champs it’s quite clear I’m NOT. All by myself back in Leverkusen 😢. At least half of the team in this picture is in Berlin for @diefinals_berlin2019. Good luck guys! Und dir auch @trs.sanders! ;-) And every other athlete of @tsvbayer04_leichtathletik of course! Bring back some medals!
Three competitions in 10 days with 2,22m, 2,25m and 2,23m as results. Two second places and one win. Three attempts at 2,30m of which two were very good attempts. This one was the best. I’m happy with the consistency, but hungry for a little more height 🦁.
Target locked.
Dutch Champion with 2,23m! 🥇. A tough one in difficult conditions, not with the freshest legs, but with enough fighting spirit to make up for that. Now time for a little rest, and on to the next ones. I still have this little barrier to break ;-).
2,25m at my home track in Leverkusen yesterday. And two good attempts at 2,30m (you can see those in my story). I’m getting closer and closer 😬. Now on to the Nationals on Sunday! 🇳🇱
