Morgen vieren we het 5 jaar jubileum van @vondelgym Je moet nooit teveel achterom kijken. Maar het opzetten van een eigen gym, met die vier vrienden, is voor mij ontzettend belangrijk geweest. Het bracht een onafhankelijkheid in mijn leven die ik in de twintig jaren werken daarvoor nooit gekend had. Een paar keer in het leven vallen de dingen samen, als je geluk hebt, en ontstaat er iets moois dat daarna vaak vanzelfsprekend voelt. Bij tv maken was dat voor mij het moment bij de EO toen ik voor het eerst programma’s kon maken over thema’s die mij belangrijk leken. Dat was het begin van mooie jaren, ook bij de KRO daarna. En vijf jaar geleden dus met de gym. Ik geniet er zo van. Het bouwen, de collega’s, de mogelijkheden. De rol die ik mag vertolken op het podium dat ik heb. De afgelopen dagen vroeg ik me vaak af waar ik nou het meest dankbaar voor ben, of trots op, wat dat betreft. Steeds kom ik dan uit op het verenigingsgevoel in de gyms. Het jubileumevenement morgen is daar een mooi voorbeeld van. 24 uur lang open. Lezingen over body positivity, sporten met een beperking en plantbased trainen, clinics met olympiërs en internationale atleten, een ijsbadclinic, clinics voor krachttraining tijdens de zwangerschap, speelse activiteiten als Twister en dansworkshops, de kinderopvang die open is, een run langs de Amsterdam lightsroute met mijn broer, yoga met een orkest ernaast.... nou ja, nog veel meer. Ook ‘s nachts voor de die hards en avonturiers. Een feest, op onze manier. Steeds met dat plezier in beweging centraal, het samen beleven van zo’n les.
Niet teveel achterom kijken dus. Vooral genieten van het moment. Maar toch ook een goede aanleiding om die partners nog eens te bedanken voor deze mooie fase van het leven; @jayjeremyinstagram @marvinmichel @jwvdk en @jellejeltsin 💕
