First dovetails I've cut in over a year, I think. Pretty sure I'll be peening the snot out of them.
The kid's been looking forward to grandpa's tractor for weeks.
.@jam73e white lines are where I'm planning to put dovetails. Look about right?
Okay, too keyed up to quit working after listening to a few minutes of that game. This'll be a burly mitre plane.
Bending the mitre plane sidewalls around an ash form. I think this is it for the day.
Tongue and groove is finished, and what a pain that was! Time to compute the side height for this mitre plane.
Mouth cut. Time to lay out the tongue-and-groove to join the bed segments. 2" iron in background.
Missed my 15° target here and ended up at 14°. I'll take that.
Filing the bed for the plane. Prussian Blue to check the slope with the protractor.
Cutting down the plane mouth. This is not too exciting.
Aaand…the planing stop works. Now I just need to figure out my next project. In the meantime, back to planemaking.
About to bash the new planing stop hook in. No idea what I'm doing, as usual.
Sure hope @WatkinsWoodWork remembers to have bacon today in honor of #WIA13
After some tweaking of the new springs, this old G-P push drill is back in business! Wonder why these are uncommon.
Winding new springs for the chuck, using 016 guitar string. Music wire is very handy stuff.
Made a custom spanner to dismantle this Goodell-Pratt push drill chuck. Now to make springs.
I've been wanting to add a steel hook to my planing stop for a long time, so finally started bashing one out.
The moon was rising as we were biking back through the woods.
The older boy and I stopped to check out this hoe. Sadly, no keys, but it had proper CASE controls.
Bed installed. A bit longer than it should be, but I think it'll work. If not, I know who to blame!
Stretcher (not load-bearing) and center foot for the bedstead. Box spring will rest on it.
@Chris_TW2 generically, these are complex moulding planes:
So far, I'm not liking this look. May have to go with slats and a high bed, or just ditch the box spring.
@wilburpan Recognize this, Coppertop? It's how google sees you, and you're about to get flushed…
